Gobero Project

Gobero Overview

Gobero is a poor rural community, about an hour away from the capital Kampala, on the Hoima Road.

The Gobero project is run by Kezia, a local secondary school teacher who delivers the programme in her spare time. Kezia overseas the sports programmes and library, helping the children to improve their reading skills.

The programme in Gobero started in July 2011 and has quickly established itself as success within the community, providing opportunities to all the residents of Gobero.

In Focus: Vocational Training

In 2013, Nabukeera Lilian was one of two Gobero members to enrol on a one-year course as a beneficiary of our Vocational Training Scheme. Lilian enrolled in a hairdressing course at Nazareth Vocational Training School in Namulamba.

Throughout her course Lilian was hard working, and the teachers’ response about her performance was very positive. We are delighted to announce that at the end of year Lilian was able to graduate with a certificate in hairdressing and was declared the best student in her class.

We now look forward to supporting Lilian in her pursuit of setting up her own business!
